I was thrilled to learn earlier this week that my book, Finding My Way Home: Fighting Depression Backpacking in Central Florida, will be winning a 2025 FAPA (Florida Authors and Publishers Association) President’s Book Award. Winners are selected in several categories and receive either gold, silver, or bronze medals. I’ve been selected to receive a medal in the Memoir/Autobiography category, but I won’t know which medal until the awards ceremony at FAPA’s annual conference in August, which I’ll also be attending.
It is such an honor to be recognized for the book–especially since I didn’t exactly know what I was doing when I wrote it. It’s a testament to how anyone can feel the life-changing joy of becoming an author, if you just sit at your computer and go for it.
Thank you, FAPA!
