After a long, relaxing summer, my first of several essays set for publication this fall, “A Subtle Change in Tone,” has now made it into print in Bacopa Literary Journal, which is now available for purchase. I’ll also be joining other authors whose works appear in Bacopa‘s next issue at the magazine’s release event on Sunday, November 8th at 2:30 at the Millhopper Library in Gainesville on Sunday, November 8th to read an excerpt from my essay.
“A Subtle Change in Tone” is a memory from the Christmas holiday last year illustrating how I’ve learned to harness my high sensitivity and my love of nature to cope with difficult childhood memories triggered by the seemingly harmless things people say. At times bittersweet, it also honors the wife and daughter who have helped me through my recent struggles with depression.

Bacopa Literary Review is the annual anthology of poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction published each year by the Writers Alliance of Gainesville (WAG), a society of authors, poets, and playwrights of which I’m privileged to be a member that provides resources to new and established writers from Florida at their monthly meetings at the Millhopper Library in Gainesville. The latest issue of Bacopa is now available for purchase on Amazon for $9.99. If you’d also like to hear me read an excerpt of my essay, you can join me at WAG’s November 8th magazine release event at the Millhopper Library at 3145 NW 43rd Street in Gainesville, or you can also join me virtually by zoom.
Thank you, WAG!
